Arm Of Flesh Or God?

Jeremiah 17:5

Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

1.What will we be under if we solely trust in man?

2.When we trust in man, what will happen to our trust in God?

3.Anything that takes our hearts away from God is a curse, so trusting Him must be a blessing. Even when our provision comes from man, a job, or other things we can see, we still must discern it. Our provision and source is always the Lord, and spiritually we are only right with Him if He is first, and its HIS arm we are trusting in, not what we can see with our eyes. When we make flesh our arm, or trust in it, from whom does our heart depart from? So we can see why the Lord does not want anything to take the place of Him in our hearts, it will soon grow into a tare and take us out of trusting the one who died for us , and wants to be our supply.

Jeremiah 17:7,8

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green, and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

1.What are we when we trust in the LORD ONLY?

2.Since we are so blessed when we do that, what happens to us when the heat and the drought comes ?

3. Since drought will not effect us, what will we always bear?

4.Does this sound like a wonderful position to be in? Can we see how GOD truly has provided for us as we live a life of simple trust in HIM?

Psalm 62:5

My soul , wait thou only upon God,for my expectation is from Him.

Psalm 62:10

If riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

Psalm 75:6

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge; He putteth down one, and up another.

Read Psalm 73 This person had emotional problems from looking at man. He saw the temporary prosperity of those who had not chosen God and he became vexed and troubled. He stopped trusting God, and seeing things Gods way. Then He comes to God and realizes Gods perspective, and he has peace again. So we must not focus on other people, but until we go into the sanctuary of God,and look to Him, we will not have peace, verse 17.

Romans 3:4

For what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid, yea, let God be true and every man a liar.

1.When others do not believe the gospel, what should that do to your faith?

2.Nothing at all, thats right.

3.What does their unbelief do to the power of God?

4. Nothing at all, thats right.

5.Do we have to give up believing and trusting God if its not popular?

6.Who should we believe then, man or God?

7.If everyone in the room says one thing, but God has said another, whom shall we believe?

It's not always easy to believe the word of God over popular opinion, but we will be like a tree planted by the water who continually yields fruit if we do.We can always trust God and still be obedient to love others and not judge them if they are wrong..
