Holding on to Christ

Hebrews 2:1

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

1.What does it mean to give earnest heed to something?

2.If we dont give earnest heed to the gospel in our lives it could slip.

Hebrews 2:18

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

1.Jesus suffered all our temptations, so what is he now able to do?

2. And if it is tempting to turn from the gospel and keeping Christ first, is he able to understand that and help us?

*********Lets look at what the early church did to stay in the Lord*******

Acts 6:4

But we will give ourselves CONTINUALLY to prayer ,and to the ministry of the word.

Acts 5:42

And DAILY in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Acts 17:11

These were more noble than those in Thessolanica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures DAILY whether those things were so.

Acts 2:42

And they continued STEADFASTLY in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Acts 3;1

Now Peter and John went up TOGETHER into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

Acts 2:46

And they, continuing DAILY with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.

Lets now look at what things we should hold on to to keep us from slipping.

2 John 8

Look [examine] to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

1 Thess 5:21

Prove all things, hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.

1 Timothy 1:19

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have make shipwreck.

1 Timothy 3:9

Holding the mystery of faith in a pure conscience.

Hebrews 3:14

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end.

Hebrews 3:6

But Christ as a son over His own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Hebrews 4:14

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Hebrews 10:23

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.

Revelation 2:25

But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

Revelation 3:11

Behold I come quickly, hold fast which thou hast, that no man take your crown.

If we are saved but then live daily in our own will, the devil laughs because we will remain ineffective for God. If we are saved, but making money the foundation for our life, the devil laughs because it is sinking, sinking, worldly sand, not Christ the solid rock. If we are saved and living daily for Christ, the devil has no place in us,we have given him no ground to stand on, and he runs away scared. We can hold fast and live daily for Christ if we dont believe the shouts of panic of the enemy that it is impossible. He shouts so loud because he is so scared of us living daily for Christ, because then we gain victories untold.
