Not Defenseless
Ephesians 6;10
Finally,my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of HIS MIGHT.
Put on the whole armour of God,that ye may be able to withstand against
the wiles of the devil.
1.In whose power shall we be strong in?
2. Does our sufficiency rest in our own strength or in HIS ?
3.Has God left us defenseless against the enemy?
3. What protection has he provided us with?
4.What are we to do with this protection?
God says here we are to be strong in the power of his might, not our own.
We have to act, we have to do something with the protection He has given
us, we have to put it on daily. Then we can withstand the attacks of satan.
Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places.
1. Is our fight then against natural elements or against the unseen world?
2.It is against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness in satans kingdom.
3. If we move against satan in the natural we are only fooling ourselves,
we need to get in the spirit and find out what is really going on that
is causing the natural problem we see.
Ephesians 6:13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
1.The point is made clear again here, we are to take the entire armour
of God on and then we can withstand the evil day and the power of the adversary.
Now lets take a look at what this armor consists of in the spirit.
Ephesians 6:14
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on
the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation
of the gospel of peace;
above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench
all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is
the word of God.
Lets take a closer look at our Equipment
Loins girt with truth
Breastplate of Righteousness
Shield of faith
Helmet of salvation
Sword of the spirit
Feet shod with the gospel of Peace
Loins girt with truth
In the spirit we should know the truth of the gospel. This protects us
from any false doctrine of devil that would seek to deceive us or weaken
our walk. It will also keep us ready with the truth to tell others and
witness. Truth is the word of God that frees us from the father of lies.
We are to be girt with it. It should lodge in the deepest part of our spirit
man, deep in our loins.
Breastplate of Righteousness
Our righteousness is Christ. Our own righteousness is as filthy rags to
God.
We stand only in the shed blood of Jesus as our righteousness before Him.
We are to be fit and dressed with this as our breastplate. When the accuser
comes we have it ready to defend ourselves and throw off his lies and taunts.
It also shows others we do not have self righteousness but are free indeed
because of the son of God only.
Shield of Faith
We hold the promises of God close to us as a shield against the negative
reports that are in the world. We determine to remain in covenant with
God through our obedience and then we can claim every promise. Our faith
conquers the world this way. The word of God has a greater legal authority
than the lies of the enemy, as long as we cling to it, and hold up that
shield of faith against him. This repels the enemy and we will soar above
him with everything God has spoken to us in our hearts.
Helmet of Salvation
We should remember we are saved and wear this as a covering for our minds.
We are forever redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. This should be our thinking
and will defend our mind from anything that is contrary to our redemption.
Sword of the Spirit
The sword of the spirit is the word of God. This is a very powerful weapon
in our spiritual battle. When we hear what the world has to say, we should
be able and ready to use the word against the bad reports we hear. Whose
report will we believe ? Agree with the word quickly. Use it daily against
our enemy.
Feet shod with the gospel of Peace
Feet represent action, movement, usually walking or running. Our feet are
to be dressed with the gospel so we are ready to travel with it, and go
and tell others. It is our equipment for witnessing and walking with the
good news into a world that needs Jesus.
