“You don’t think God can forgive you?” he echoes.
“No,” you answer ashamedly. “You don’t know all that I’ve done in my life.”
“I don’t need to know,” he says. “I do know that God will forgive anyone who changes their mind about him – repents – and accepts him. Did you know that God used murderers to write about half of the Bible?”
“Not only that,” he goes on to say, “but possibly the greatest missionary who ever lived, the apostle Paul, who wrote nearly half the books of the New Testament, was at first the greatest persecutor of the church. He imprisoned dozens of believers and probably had many killed.”
“Is that true?”
“Yes,” he replies. “You know, Jesus said, ‘Whoever believes in me has eter-nal life.1’ Period. That goes for anyone. The Bible also says ‘there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.2’ If you don’t believe that, then you’re saying that God isn’t powerful or loving enough to forgive you, and I hate to say it, but you’re also calling him a liar.” Go to page 6.
